Regionally, performance remains uneven. Asia Pacific continues to represent the largest share of the global box office, though volatility in China is driving fluctuations in regional growth. North America and Western Europe are seeing steadier recovery, supported by premium formats, pricing growth, and a stronger release slate. Across all regions, however, the long-term trajectory points to growth led by yield expansion rather than a full return to pre-pandemic attendance levels.
Local-language content is playing an increasingly important role in stabilising attendance. Domestic films are now a key driver of performance across many markets, particularly in Europe and Asia Pacific, where local titles can significantly influence quarterly outcomes and provide resilience when the Hollywood slate underperforms.
The theatrical model is evolving beyond traditional exhibition. Operators are increasingly investing in technology, premium seating, and alternative programming such as live events and concert films to enhance the cinema experience and drive additional revenue streams. This shift is repositioning cinema as a more experience-led, event-driven proposition, distinguishing it from home entertainment and reinforcing its role within the wider content ecosystem.
