Alastair Moore
Technology Lead, RNID
Alastair Moore
Alastair is Technology Lead at RNID, the national charity supporting the 18 million people in the UK who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus. His responsibilities include keeping abreast of, communicating the benefits of, and influencing the development of cutting-edge hearing technology. This includes consultancy work with corporate partners, academic engagement, and user research. Current topics include Auracast and the future of hearing health.
Alastair has an MEng degree in Electronic Engineering with Musical Technology Systems and a PhD in binaural sound, both from University of York, UK. He has worked in industry as a hardware design engineer for a consumer audio brand and for over a decade was a postdoctoral researcher in acoustic signal process at Imperial College London, UK. His published research includes topics such as sound scene awareness, binaural beamforming, robot audition and the use of virtual reality for speech-in-noise testing.

Co-Founder and Director, Velocity Commerce & Majority Audio
PJ Scott
PJ Scott cofounded Velocity Commerce in 2012 alongside Eddie Latham, building the business from a Cambridge garage into an ecommerce powerhouse. Today, Velocity is a multiawardwinning £30 million enterprise, processing thousands of orders daily and earning places in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 and Financial Times FT 1000 for three consecutive years. As Director, PJ leads growth strategy, brand expansion, and operations across Velocity’s consultancy and inhouse divisions.
Central to their success is flagship audio brand Majority, launched in 2012 to make highquality audio both stylish and accessible. Majority now resides in over 5 million homes worldwide and has received accolades in leading publications such as Tom’s Guide and What HiFi?, acclaiming products like the Majority D40X Bookshelf Speakers and Naga 40 Soundbar.

Dr Mike Grant is CEO of Warwick Acoustics Ltd, a business that is revolutionising the $10bn in-car entertainment market.
Warwick Acoustics has developed the world’s first automotive qualified audio system based on electrostatic - as opposed to electromagnetic - loudspeakers. The Company’s unique thin film electrostatic panels offer OEMs the unrivalled acoustic quality of electrostatic transducers, unequalled packaging flexibility, a 90% reduction in mass and power consumption, and utilise no rare earth elements.
Warwick Acoustics’ first production system will be announced in 2025 by a leading premium car manufacturer.
Mike took over this University start-up in 2016 to lead the turnaround of the business. In the intervening years, he developed a compelling vision for the business that has garnered global interest, and built out a world-class team to deliver that vision.
Over his career, Mike has created several globally successful products including the first 3D graphics standard for the mobile phone industry, the world's 3rd largest mobile games publishing business, and a 200m user chat community in Latin America. In the 1990’s, he also played a leading role in the worldwide introduction of today’s mobile internet.
Mike holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (1st class honours), a PhD in Fibre Optic Communications, and is a Cranfield MBA. In 2020, he was elected Fellow of the Institute of Engineering Technology.
